There are a number of misconceptions about study abroad that make it seems like it's not an option. Belows are what our alumni have to say about these myths! It’s really helpful for you, but if you are still worried, you can make an appointment with a Professional Study Abroad consultant to discuss what it's really like.

Myth #1: I can’t afford to study abroad!

Fact: You can almost always use financial aid to study abroad, and there are lots of scholarships out there! YUKI already introduced a lot of students to Japan with full or partial scholarships and we are ready to help you.

“Thanks to Ms. Trang who introduced me 50% scholarship of Fukuoka University for my Japanese preparatory course and guided me how to deal & get more scholarship for my undergraduate program there. This was one of the first scholarships I had ever applied for, and I was more than happy when I was informed I pased. Myth #2: I’m not interested in Tokyo or Osaka, so there’s not a study abroad option for me!

Fact: There are not only Tokyo and Osaka as destinations for you to study abroad in Japan. You can choose Fukuoka city, Kobe, or even Ehime city. From Hokkaido to Kagoshima or Okinawa, YUKI students can go any where in Japan – we’ll help you to find a program that’s suited for you.

Myth #3: Studying abroad isn’t offered in my major.

Fact: With the right plan and the right program, students from any major can study abroad.

“I even thought that with my specific major of childhood education, I cannot find any opportunity in Japan until I met & discussed with Mr. Hung. Now I can learn many things in Japan to apply to my job and am having plan to run my own Japanese style kindergarden in Vietnam soon when I come back.”

Myth #4: I don’t have time to study abroad! It’s easier to travel as a tourist when I graduate or have time.

Fact: Studying abroad isn’t the same as being a tourist. When you study abroad, you don’t just observe your host culture, you live it. There’s no better time than now, while you can earn credit and use financial aid!

“Living in Tokyo is not like taking a vacation. Being there for several months means you get immersed in the culture and start living life the Japanese way. I would not trade this experience for anything; it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience Japanese culture firsthand.”
